SATELLITE VIEW

As with all our websites, we shall be using liturgical directions, with each direction denoted by a capital initial letter. From this satellite view we see that the sanctuary is pointing in a geographical southwest direction. It may seem perverse, but we shall denote this direction as East, and the other directions similarly. The use of liturgical directions gives us a common reference system for every church and cathedral.

We notice that this Church has a large tower on the street corner. The tower contains a circular staircase. The Church also has a subtle cruciform shape, with small gabled extensions on the North and South sides. There is a large entry (narthex) at the West end (top right), and a stepped entry to this up from Ann Street.

In our exploration of St Andrew’s, we shall begin at Creek Street, and follow around along Ann Street as far as we can. We then enter the Church (in fact by means of the tower staircase), and make our way to the main Ann Street entrance, arriving at the Church like a normal worshipper. The inside is easy to navigate, being essentially a slightly modified large rectangle in shape.

This is an unusual and beautiful Church.
