INTRODUCTION
This website occurs in the midst of a large number of other websites involving churches and cathedrals around the world which I have photographed. But this site is rather different.
Since last year my overseas travel has been severely curtailed by the COVID virus. I wondered if perhaps there were some overseas photographers who might let me make use of their church photographs for the creation of a website. Thus was born the idea of creating joint websites. And sites on British Churches appealed to me.
I already had one suitable site of my own: St Mary Redcliffe in Bristol, which I had previously photographed. But then what?
Aidan McRae Thomson
I was aware of the work of Aidan McRae Thomson from his Flickr site, and approached him with a proposition to prepare a joint website using his photographs (in fact, of Wymondham Abbey). I was delighted when Aidan readily agreed, and our cooperation has gone from there.
You can read about Aidan and his work with stained glass on the website:

Wendy Harris
More recently I asked Wendy Harris if she would like to be involved. She has photographed many British churches, and I am thrilled that she has also agreed to be part of this project.

‘Glass Angel’
At time of writing, ‘Glass Angel’ has been the latest to join the team, recognised initially (by me) for her photographs of Pershore Abbey. Welcome aboard, ‘Glass Angel’!
‘Glass Angel’ has also photographed many British churches, and her collection of photographs can be viewed at

‘Jules&Jenny’
I am not sure where this project is leading, but the Introduction is getting longer! ‘Jules&Jenny’ have taken some wonderful window photographs of various British churches, and have been willing to share them on this site.
‘Jules&Jenny’s photographs can be found at:

It is now August 2021, with fourteen Churches added to this collection. I am sure there will be more, but it is time to close this Introduction!
I am finding that as well as the ‘regular’ photographers listed above, there are also others who have a special interest in a single church. Examples are J.J. Myers [Le Monde1] for the Kings Lynn Minster site, and Phil McIver for the Crooked Spire Church in Chesterfield.
Many others have contributed lesser numbers of photographs, and I continue to be amazed at people’s generosity and helpfulness. Thank you!
I have now embarked on a new category of Scottish Cathedrals, even though Scotland is out of reach for me.
