HISTORY

[Wikipedia]

The Anglican Diocese of Willochra is a diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia located in the state of South Australia. The diocese covers over 90% of the State, mainly in the north and west. The diocese is made up of thirteen parishes and five ministry districts comprising 80 small congregations. It was created from the Diocese of Adelaide in 1915.

The cathedral church of the diocese is the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul in Port Pirie. The cathedral building was built in 1899 as a parish church and was consecrated as Cathedral on 29 June 1999. The building is constructed of dressed stone, has a corrugated iron roof and is furnished internally in minimalist but slightly high church style.
