Although this web site majors in historic buildings, the Wharf area of Port Fairy is intrinsically linked to the history of this town, and explains its location at the mouth of the Moyne River. This was a major port in the 19th Century, and is now a centre of the fishing industry. Here there is an historic memorial, paying tribute to the members of the crew of the vessel S. S. Casino, wrecked at Apollo Bay in 1932.

This is a beautiful part of Port Fairy which is worth exploring.
