This building was erected in 1806 by Joseph Goble as a Steam Flour Mill. It was reported to be ‘equipped with all the most up to date and efficient devices in milling’. It had its own wharf. Goble conducted the mill until 1871 and then leased it until 1883. By 1919 it was a ruin, and it was then purchased by the Port Fairy Cheese and Butter Factory Pty Ltd, and operated as a butter factory until 1939. It then fell into ruin once more, until being converted into a bed and breakfast venue.
