This distinctive building at 51 Cox Street was completed ca 1862. It was originally owned and occupied by a cabinet maker and undertaker. Captain John Baird, the garrison doctor and surgeon, lived here in the 1870s.

The side window over the door facing Union Street was transported to the building during renovations in recent times.
