The Old Post Office is the only government building in Walhalla that survives from the heyday of the town’s gold mining period. By March 1864, Walhalla had a weekly mail service from Toongabbie, and in August of that year, the Walhalla Post office was opened. An historic plaque nearby gives some interesting detail.
