PEARSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

hospital

Continuing up Church Hill Road we come to the Pearson Memorial Hospital. Built way up here, it would certainly be safe from flooding ... and probably from patients! This photograph shows the Hospital in its remote location (top right).

The original hospital closed in 1900, and a larger hospital was built by Herman Gloz in 1909. This in turn closed around 1940 due to a dwindling population.

The premises are now used as a Bed and Breakfast establishment.
