HISTORY OF MATHEMATICS

In Semester 2, 2001, an Honours History of Mathematics course was given in the Department of Pure Mathematics at the University of Adelaide. Recognizing the increasing impact of the internet on mathematics education, each student was asked to prepare several web pages on one of the topics studied, or on some relevant topic. The pages presented here are the result of this exercise, and contributed towards the students’ assessment grade.

When the course was given again in 2002, further topics were added to the site.

It is hoped that the work presented here will be helpful to others, but also that this site might be an inspiration for others to make similar experiments.
