CARDIFF CATHEDRAL
WALES CATHOLIC
PAUL SCOTT
SATELLITE VIEW
The satellite view shows that the Cathedral fronts onto Charles Street. There is a walkway alongside, but otherwise the Cathedral is hemmed in by city buildings.
We also see that the sanctuary points in a geographical direction some 30° south of west. Hence in describing this Cathedral it will be very useful to use liturgical directions, as indicated by the super-imposed compass rose, in which the sanctuary faces East (with a capital letter). With this in mind, the Cathedral has a square tower in the Northwest corner.
I can find no plan for this Cathedral, and there is relatively little information online. Let us see what we shall find!
In our exploration, we shall approach the Cathedral from the city centre along Hills Street, arriving at the Northeast corner of the Cathedral. We shall then follow around in a clockwise direction before entering through the main West doors off Charles Street.
