LOOKS AT BOOKS : ADELAIDE LIBRARY

This morning we visit the Adelaide Library on North Terrace. Because parking is difficult in the city, we drive to an outer suburban bus stop and catch public transport into the city.

The Adelaide Library has a smart new glass entry, which some think clashes unpleasantly with the surrounding old stone buildings.

It looks better from this angle!

We have arranged a guided tour of the library, and are shown over the various areas, including the wonderful old (original) Mortlock Library.

We are then given some insights into the Library's Special Collection, and some valuable old books.

There are other public displays as well.

After an interesting morning we enjoy a light lunch together in the Library cafeteria, before catching the bus back out to the suburbs.
