MEDINA, AYERS AND GRACES

Today we visit the city. Our first stop is an arranged tour of the Medina Grand Hotel in the centre of the city. There is some difficulty about parking the bus near this location, so we dropped off our passengers and found a streetside park to the west.

The Medina Grand was once the Treasury Building, and is of some special interest because of the tunnels that run from beneath it. The building itself is now completely refurbished as an up-market hotel.

The tour finishes in the attractive central courtyard of the Hotel. There is a small charge for the tour.

We next walk across Victoria Square to the Central Market. This is a fine place to spend some time (and buy some produce!). There are several good eating places here too where we have lunch.

The driver retrieves the bus and picks up our group outside the Market at a prearranged time, and we drive to Ayers House on North Terrace, where we park in the grounds.

This is a grand old house with a long history, and we are taken on a guided tour. Again, there is a small charge for the tour.

Afternoon tea is provided, after which we make our way home.
