MOUNT AND INN

Mount George Conservation Park is a little gem hidden away in the Hills between Piccadilly and Bridgewater. A well sign-posted Mount George access road branches off Rangeview Drive. We drive to the parking area and picnic ground at the end.

There are various possible activities to undertake at the park. The following map comes from www.paulscott.info/adelaide-hills-walks . More information about walks can be found on this site.

It is an easy walk around the lower dammed lake. Notice that this lake lies west of the stream.

Several more energetic members tackle the strenuous hike up to Mount George (about an hour). The easiest option is to sit in one of the shelters, enjoy the scenery and listen to the cries of the cockatoos.

Many in our group decide to walk down under the Eastern Freeway alongside the stream to our lunch destination at Bridgewater. This is an easy stroll taking about half an hour. We make sure we keep the stream on our right.

The bus and cars return turning right up Mülller Road, right up Worden Road, and then right at the T-junction leading to Bridgewater. We cross over the Freeway, and then turn right in Bridgewater, passing the Mill on the right, and immediately find the Bridgewater Inn, where we are booked for lunch. The Inn has a good value Seniors’ Menu, friendly service, and a delightful outdoors dining area. The old Inn is also of historic interest.

This concludes our tour, although some of us stop at Aldgate for an icecream on the way home.
