INTRODUCTION

For many years the Norton Summit Baptist Church has had a Seniors Group, a group of up to 30 seniors from the church and its surrounding community.  Once a quarter, the group arranges an outing which begins and ends at the church. We hire a community bus accommodating 13 people (below), and the rest travel by car.  We find that some enjoy the often lively company in the bus, while others prefer to make their own way.  The cars usually follow the bus, but sometimes it is wise to provide route maps for the car drivers.  Each outing comprises some destinations of interest, and usually a meal out together. While the church covers the cost of the bus hire, many of the group make a donation towards the cost of fuel .

We are conscious of the cost pressures that some Seniors face, and usually mange to keep the total cost of an outing below $20 per person.

It is a constant task trying to come up with new ideas for outings, although we do have a small committee for this.  Hence the idea of this website: we can share some of the outings we have enjoyed, and you might like to contact us wuth some ideas of your own.

These are all outings we have been on.  Of course as time passes, situations will change.  You will probably like to run through an outing before taking your group, and it is always a good idea to check venues and prices before going for a meal. The main cost is usually the meal. Check out beforehand whether there is a Seniors Menu, or Seniors discounts, or even a group discount.
