28. ALTAR MC TA

EChImmaculateConception  EImmaculateConceptionTAJuliaC

Finally, looking to the East wall, we see below the organ pipes the altarpiece of the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, also known as the Chapel of Bishop Trejo. This Chapel is one of the first in Spain dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. It features a baroque style with polychrome marble and a polychrome wood carving of the Virgin Mary dating back to around 1627. The Chapel was commissioned by the Franciscan bishop Fray Antonio de Trejo in the early 17th century. This completes our visit to Murcia Cathedral, and we leave by the EXIT door! CONCLUSION

I hope you have enjoyed visiting Murcia Cathedral with me. As commented earlier, revisiting Murcia had special interest for me, and I was pleased to get to know the Cathedral better.

I am grateful to my wife Margie who, as always, has proof-read these pages. However, I am also happy to receive constructive comments or corrections. The best websites are the ones which have no errors! There are also several pages where there is missing information. I would appreciate help to fill these gaps.

As mentioned in the Index, none of these photographs are mine. Some photos are acknowledged directly by a link in the text. Some photos come from the Cathedral. These are marked MC, and can be found on the site with link

https://catedralmurcia.org/cathedral/architecture/

A number of photos come from a Flickr site by Francisco Javier Guerra Hernando. These are marked [fjg].

Many photos appear online in sets such as Trip Advisor [TA] and Google Street View [GSV]. These contributions are virtually impossible to follow up, but are listed with the above initials and the photographer’s name. The links for the galleries are Trip Advisor and Google Street View.

In a different category I have found the video Silent Stroller [SS]: Murcia Cathedral very helpful. This video gives a silent walk through all the Cathedral chapels.

I wish to express my gratitude and indebtedness to all those photographers whose work appears here. If there is any query, please contact me at the email address below.

The text also comes from a variety of sources.

The Cathedral has its own website:
