1. QUEENSCLIFF INN |
||
Queenscliff Inn, formerly known as Olinda House, was built in 1905 (perhaps 1902?). It was originally built as a Guest House for holiday makers who would come down from Melbourne on the infamous paddle steamers. Guests would stay for at least a week and would be catered for breakfast lunch and dinner. The Drawing Room was used as one of the primary entertaining areas and was the heart of The Queenscliff Inn. Today the Drawing Room is still used much in the same manner, more for relaxing with a glass of local red! For a short period of time the Inn was a private residence; however it was later restored as a guest house. Olinda House was built by Herbert Thompson, a fruiterer, who for a time had a shop and dwelling on this site. |
