21. SIGNAL STATION

Close to the Black Lighthouse we find the Fort Queenscliff Signal Station, from which the first ever Australian shore-to-ship radio transmission was made in 1901.

While there is much written about the light houses, records of the history of this signal station appear to be relatively scant.
