3. RAILWAY GOODS SHED
Railway Terrace

The Railway Goods Shed was built in 1864, believed to be from ballast stone used in the sailing ships. It catered for the original horse-drawn trams and the following steam railways. It was used as a goods shed when regular train services from Adelaide ceased. It was then used to house horse drawn trams.

A nice view can be seen across the whale fountain in Warland Reserve.

In 1994 it was completely refurbished and became the S. A. Whale Centre. At the same time, the new Tram Barn was purpose built adjacent to this building.

An historic plaque relating to the Goods Shed can be found in Warland Reserve.
