35. YILKI |
||
The district of Yilki (an Aboriginal name meaning ‘place by the sea’), is best known by the seafront general store on Flinders Parade. However, over the road from the store are several interesting historic signs. One tells of the various shipwrecks close by, another about whaling and sealing in the area. A little further on is a memorial cairn to the Rumbelow family, who played a big part in the history of the developing town. |
