THE WALHALLA CHRONICLE |
||
James Ryan started the Walhalla Chronicle newspaper in 1870. It continued being published up until July 1915. There was a disastrous fire in Walhalla in 1888, which destroyed many of the town’s buildings, including the Chronicle print shop. While the office was being reconstructed, the paper was published in Bendigo. The newspaper published a wide range of articles from covering local issues to events on the world scene. The present building dates from 2003, and is located directly downhill from the original site of the newspaper print shop. A nearby plaque gives some interesting historical information. |
