Two more principal ideas in relation to motion
are:
- A flying arrow is at rest. At any given point in time the
arrow is in a space equal to its length. Hence it is at rest at
that time and at rest at all points in time. The sum of these
infinite points in time is not a motion.
- Take three arrows, 1,2 and 3. Let arrow 2 be stationary, arrow
1 move to the right past 2 and arrow 3 move to the left past 2,
at the same rate. This leads to arrow 1 moving past arrow 3 at
twice the given rate. If we are to assume that time and space
are atomistic, then this doubling leads to a contradiction.
