Each wall of the central portion of the Bridge has a tall lancet window flanked by two round windows on each side. There is also a brass plaque.

25B. ROE PLAQUE

The brass plaque remembers Henry Roe, citizen of Dublin, who paid for the erection of the Synod Hall. The presentation to the Church of Ireland took place in April 1875.

25C. PAST THE CENTRAL WINDOWS

The window seen here displays the Coat of Arms of the See of Canterbury.  The Y-shaped cross is known as the Thieves’ Cross; I do not know why Canterbury chose this cross.

25D. RETURN TO THE CATHEDRAL

From the centre of the Bridge we descend the steps on the Cathedral side.

25E. THE ENTRY PORCH – AGAIN!

FInsideSynodHallBridgeToEntranceLM1

A left turn brings us back to the Southern entry porch of the Cathedral. Facing us are two colourful boards listing the Priors and Deans of the cathedral of the Holy Trinity, commonly known as Christ Church Cathedral. We descend the remaining steps and enter the Cathedral.
