Celtic Cross
The Coat of Arms of the Society of Friends of Dunblane Cathedral. It comprises the arms of the Cathedral with the Society’s own motif on top. The Cathedral arms contain a boar’s head, a star, a lion and a bishop, and were granted on 23rd June 1948 over the hand and seal of The Lord Lyon King of Arms. The scroll is framed and hangs on the west wall of the Chapter House.
The boar's head is couped (cut) at the neck; the star has six rays; the lion is salient (leaping) and the bishop is ‘tidily attired sustaining in his sinister (left) hand his crozier’.
