14. DOCKSIDE TAVERN
30 Lipson Street

DocksideTavern

Replacing an earlier hotel dating from 1850, this Britannia Hotel building was erected in 1889. For years it was known as Murphy’s.

The Britannia was renamed the Dockside Tavern in 2002.

It was (and is) a particularly ornate building with fancy railings and embellishments.

The hotel has retained an interest in its past with historic photos in the dining room, and a large Port panorama in the bar.

There are stories of several harmless ghosts residing in the pub!
