This building was the home of the Port Fairy Gazette. The paper was established in 1849 by T H. Osborne who previously owned and edited the Portland Gazette. He brought his press and type overland with him through the bush. with the exception of a few weeks in 1864, the Gazette was published continuously until 1989 when it finally ceased.

The premises are currently (2012) occupied by the Ironbird bookshop and Only Ewe.
