SPETT’S COTTAGE

SpettsCottage

It is hard to get a clear view of Spett’s Cottage today without trespassing, but the little white sign assures us this is the right location. There is also a detailed information plaque.

Spett’s Cottage was built by Swedish born Charles Spetts in the early 1870s. Over the years it was extended to accommodate their family of seven children. It is one of the original gold era cottages still left in Walhalla.

The cottage used to stand in in one of the finest gardens in the valley, and an apple tree, pear tree and mulberry tree can still be seen today.
