We proceed up the Main Valley Track from the Top Car Park, crossing five bridges (labelled #2 – #6!) before coming to this left turn-off which we take.

From this track we can look down on the Main Valley Track.

There are some beautiful flowering shrubs, even in December – like this Christmas bush.

The track is well signed and after passing the Steep Gully turn off on the left, climbs steeply.
There are views out over the Gorge, and after a time we come to Eagle Nest Lookout, with this incredible view out over the First Fall and its colourful rocky escarpment.
What a magnificent park this is!

There are good high views of the valley too ...

... and further around we come to the actual First Falls Lookout, with the Main Valley Track visible below.

It is a long way down the Fall!

The stream above the Fall is pretty too.

Leaving the Lookout, the signs are not so helpful, but we follow up the stream a very short distance before
crossing over it.  A little further along we reach Kookaburra Rock Lookout.  I have ancient memories of this point being a good meditation place – before a proper lookout was placed here.  Follow the path down, taking the right turn to the Giant’s Cave.

Now down a last flight of steps ...

... before rejoining the Main Valley Track and retracing our steps to the parking area.  This is a reasonably strenuous walk, but the views make it well worth while.
