The fine Commercial Bank building was designed by Daniel Garlick and constructed in 1888. It proudly displays its name and date on a panel at the top of the front façade.
It originally contained a splendid banking chamber and upstairs accommodation for the manager and his family. The chamber still has the original ceiling rose, grand decorated cornices, and on the wall is an old plan of the building.
It is currently being used as the Administration Centre for the Maritime Museum across the road.
