The Town Hall was completed in 1905, and was built by the Institute Committee. The Town Hall was purchased by the Council in 1935 and used as the major meeting hall and entertainment venue The Town Hall is rather a grand building with a fine decoration above the entry doors. A foundation stone at the rear reads: This foundation stone was laid by Sir J. Langdon Bonython K.C.M.G 26th January 1939 – presumably an extension? Adjacent to the Town Hall is a colourful and strange mosaic! |
