The Wirraparinga Trail runs behind the caravan park. This trail, combined with the portion of the Peter Nelson trail on the other side of the creek makes a nice easy loop. Wirraparinga is a Kaurna (Aboriginal) word meaning creek and scrub place. 1 We park in the Lions Club car park, just past where the road crosses the creek. There are picnic tables in the park. 2 The trail is clearly marked. 3 The flowering wattle makes a pretty frame for the swollen creek. 4 The track passes by this interesting outcrop. 5 Then there is a small pine grove. The track is definitely rather messy along here today! 6 The odd periwinkle brightens the day. 7 Just below the caravan park, the creek flows over this weir. 8 Some Rotary volunteers are doing a good tree planting job. 9 I bet the creek is not often like this! 10 The track reached the join of Northbrook Avenue and Neweys Road, near where this new footbridge across the creek has been built. We cross here, and walk back along the Brownhill Creek Road. 11 Just here is a stone column with a plaque commemorating the opening of the Reserve in 1915. 12 And from here is this view of the creek with the workers on the opposite bank. We pick up the Peter Nelson Track and return to the car.
