In 1878 the Bank of Adelaide opened for business in Lipson Street at number 16. This small building described as a store and cellar had a small entryway and unusual front window.
The property next door at number 114 was then purchased, and the rather grander new Bank building was completed in 1885.
This building has a grand façade, distinctive portals and an old sign of somewhat more recent origin on the end wall.
