33. COURT HOUSE |
||
This Court House was unusually large for a country town, but was designed for sittings of the Supreme Court as wellas the County Court, Quarter sessions, and the Magistrate’s Court. It was built in 1859 – 60, had the porch added in 1869, and three rooms were built on to the rear of the building in 1874. Following its purchase by the Borough Council, in 1992 it became the headquarters of the Port Fairy Historical Society, and now houses extensive archives and a museum. There is a plaque attached to a large boulder. |
