This cottage is a very early timber building, probably built in the late 1840s or early 1850s. We might note the earlier building at the rear between this building and Mills’ Cottage. Crudely constructed of stone rubble, it contains one room with a large fireplace. The main building was used as one of the several maternity houses, or ‘lying in’ hospitals during the early 1900s.
